The main goal of the Second Central Asian Research Forum on Sustainable Development and Innovation is to provide a platform to attract potential partners from government agencies and business structures to research projects of young Kazakhstani scientists, which are in line with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
It is hoped that the Forum will result in synergy between industry and young scientists and aid the development of Kazakhstan and other countries of Central Asia.
The Forum also seeks to establish partnership links between the universities of Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom. Notably, the Forum in the United Kingdom is organised in partnership with Loughborough University, which is ranked in the top 10 UK’s universities and has a vast experience in the implementation of scientific projects aimed at sustainable development.
Forum 2019’s Objectives can be summarised as follows:
Identify and engage in result-oriented discussion the key stakeholders in the UK and Central Asian region: researchers, PhD students, investors, universities, governmental decision-makers, and communities;
Provide an opportunity for PhD students and researchers to present their cutting-edge research, projects and solutions addressing SDGs;
Secure support and provisional funding from Central Asian investors and governments for the implementation of presented projects;
Establish working groups/think tanks for further collaboration and cooperation among stakeholders in the UK and Central Asia for the SD projects.
